"It spits fire that is hot enough to melt boulders. Known to cause forest fires unintentionally."-Pokemon Blue/Red description of Charizard.
Bio- Ash found Charmander abandoned by his trainer. He took Charmander in and trained Charmander into a Charmeleon. However, because Ash did not have the experience to control Charmeleon, he never really used him in battle. But when Ash was taken by the Aerodactyl, Charmealon evolved into the awesome Charizard. Again, Ash did not have enough experience to control Charizard and was force to not use him. In Pokemon Johto, Ash leaves Charizard in Charific Valley to train itself.
Why Pick Him-Charizard was the popular choice from the starter trio. It gained its popularity from the battles between Blaine's Magmar and Gary's Blastiose.
Epic Moment-Episode 253, Great Bowls of Fire, Charizard returns to Ash while, the party goes to the Dragon Shrine, guarded by Dragonite in a forest. James, from Team Rocket, accidentaly sets the whole on fire, which enrages the Dragonite. Claire, the gym leader, tries to reason with Dragonite, but Dragonite fires a Hyper Beam at Claire. Right before it hits her, Ash's Charizard uses Flamethrower to deflect the attack. Dragonite and Charizard lock eyes. This is where the epic moment begins. Dragon-like creature versus dragon-like creature.
I highly recommend you listen to this on replay while reading the next paragraph:

Taking flight into the air, Ash commands Charizard to use Flamethower. Charizard blasts a long stream of fire towards Dragonite. Trying to dodge it, Dragonite fails, takes damage, and falls into the water below. Thinking that it was victory, Dragonite bursts out of the water and straight into the sky. Firing a Hyper Beam at Ash, Claire's Dragonair uses Safe Guard and protects Ash. Charizard uses Flamethrower, again, at Dragonite, and Dragonite catches the Flamethrower. Dragonair uses Hyper Beam at Dragonite and Dragonite takes more damage. Looking more pissed off, Claire and Ash rethinks their strategy. Dragonair uses Hyper Beam and misses, while Dragonite goes straight for Dragonair. Dragonite lifts Dragonair and throws it like a worthless Pokemon that it is. Charizard goes behind Dragonite and uses sesmic toss, only to miss and be back handed by Dragonite's Tail Whip. Claire commands Dragonair to summon a storm for Pikachu to shock Dragonite, while Charizard is commanded to keep Dragonite distracted. Charizard uses Flamethrower, and Dragonite protects itself by flapping his wings to blow out the flames. Both Pikach and Dragonair attacks Dragonite with Thunder, only to activate Dragonite's OVERDRIVE. Charizard shoots a ball of fire towards Dragonite, but Dragonite also uses Hyper Beam, encasing Dragonite in a fireball. Dragonite blasts a Hyper Beam in the ball, but it backfires and knocks him out. Charizard, still flying, looks down on Dragonite and says, "Move Bitch! Get out the way."
Rating: Badass Pokemon
Hey glad to know someone likes Charizard. But you should of included the battle when Charizard fought Drake's Dragonite.
ReplyDeleteTo me, the fights with Charizard that stood out the most were against Blaine's Magmar, Gary's Blastoise, that Dragonite, and Drakes Dragonite. But I decided to go with this battle because I was really surprised, back in the day, that Charizard came back to help Ash so this battle got stuck in my mind because of that.
